2010:

Great Britain Amputee Football finished a commendable 7th in the WAFF World Cup 2010, held in the City of Crespo, Argentina in October. The squad had a very difficult lead up to the tournament only confirming their attendance at the latest possible moment due to funding difficulties, and then the team found themselves in the trickier side of the draw. Once through the first group stage GBAF had to face the top three teams in the world in 3 successive days! With a reduced preparation time it was never going to be an easy task. Ultimately the squad managed to pick themselves up and finish on a high beating the Ukraine in the 7th /8th play off 2-0.

Takeda Pharmaceuticals had a large part in ensuring the teams participation in Argentina and also hosted a friendly earlier in the year in Manchester. The next World Championships is to be in Japan in 2012, and we hope that the company can continue its association with EAFA & GBAF in the run up to the event, that will be hosted on their home soil.

A big thank you to all individuals and organisations that have donated already to allow the team to get this far. Please visit our Everyclick online donation site to help us achieve our future goals.

GBAF hosted the French Amputee National Team over the weekend of 05 & 06 June 2010 in Manchester to compete for the Takeda Cup. The games were held at Woodley Sports Stadium, Stockport. GBAF won both games and lifted the cup. See News page for results.
